Global trade AI startup THIRDWORKS announced on December 18 that it has been finally selected for TIPS, a technology startup support program run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Through the TIPS program, THIRDWORKS plans to move beyond its existing AI-based customized trading partner matching system and accelerate the advancement of its trade agent service, Follow up, which covers the entire import and export process.
In the trade field, risks facing small and medium-sized import and export companies have intensified as export volumes increase, with the number of origin verification cases rising 140.6 percent year on year. Information asymmetry has become severe due to customs regulations and documentation guidelines that are fragmented by country and product. In contrast, Korean customs brokers face legal limitations that prevent them from directly supporting overseas customs requirements. As a result, SMEs continue to face difficulties in discovering overseas business opportunities and concluding contracts.
To address these challenges, THIRDWORKS is advancing service development centered on three core technologies: a multi-country export customs requirements data gateway, an international, standards-based collaboration system for electronic documents, and an FTA agreement-specific post-verification risk management system.
Minji Kim, CEO of THIRDWORKS, said, “Through our selection for TIPS, we will provide services that enable small and medium-sized import and export companies to proactively respond to real-time changes in trade regulations and customs requirements, significantly reduce the time and cost of information search, improve document accuracy, and lower post-clearance origin verification risks,” adding, “We aim to build an AI-based trade platform that comprehensively resolves information imbalance, risks, and complex documentation tasks faced by import and export companies.”
