Hanjin and Kakao Mobility begin strategic cooperation to innovate logistics services and realize Logistics 4.0. Hanjin announced that it recently signed an MOU with Kakao Mobility to build an AI-based logistics network together.
Through this agreement, the companies link idle-time logistics infrastructure with Kakao Mobility’s supply chain to upgrade delivery services and expand logistics services through the Kakao Mobility platform. The two companies plan to strengthen service competitiveness and raise customer satisfaction by densifying and flexing the delivery supply chain.
The companies also link Kakao Mobility’s AI logistics system to Hanjin’s middle-mile operations to optimize movement routes between logistics hubs and maximize operational efficiency. They also plan to develop optimized AI prediction models using accumulated data jointly.
They also pursue advanced logistics innovation using future mobility technologies. The companies will jointly build AX, an AI-based automated logistics operations system, by applying AI-based operating systems and autonomous driving technologies throughout the service process. They plan to improve both delivery efficiency and safety, and in the long term, reduce transportation costs and maintain consistent service quality.
Hanjin and Kakao Mobility have formed a joint consultative body to develop practical service models across parcel delivery, logistics, and digital platform businesses. They plan to continue step-by-step working-level discussions to create specific business models and execution plans.
A Hanjin official said, “We will provide a new delivery experience powered by advanced technologies such as AI and autonomous driving and build a Logistics 4.0 model that raises efficiency and convenience for both customers and partners.”
A Kakao Mobility official said, “Through this cooperation, we will build a next-generation data-based logistics operation system together and lead the advancement of the logistics industry ecosystem with Kakao Mobility’s technological and operational capabilities.”
Meanwhile, Kakao Mobility has worked to create an efficient logistics environment by promoting digital innovation in the middle-mile sector through platform operation know-how and IT capabilities, and by building a win-win platform that reflects on-site needs. Kakao T Trucker automated the entire process—from tailored order search to proof-of-delivery submission, invoice issuance, and freight settlement—within the app, significantly improving cargo drivers’ efficiency and reducing administrative processing time. The “quick payout” system also pays freight fees within an average of one hour after approval from freight brokers, resolving many of the challenges faced by middle-mile market participants and earning strong support.
