KakaoMap, the location-based lifestyle platform by Kakao Corp (CEO Shina Chung), recently announced the launch of its Airport Railroad Congestion Information service.
In collaboration with Airport Railroad Co., Kakao introduced this service to enhance convenience for Airport Railroad passengers. The service offers highly accurate information by integrating subway line data from KakaoMap with real-time load measurement systems developed by Airport Railroad.
Users can access the service by searching for station names along the Airport Railroad route on the KakaoMap mobile app. Congestion levels are displayed in four stages: Relaxed (blue), Moderate (green), Caution (orange), and Crowded (red). “Relaxed” indicates ample space in train aisles, while “Crowded” means movement within the train is nearly impossible. The app visually represents real-time congestion levels for each train car using these color codes, allowing users to identify the train’s condition at a glance easily.
Additionally, travelers visiting Incheon or Gimpo airports during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday can use KakaoMap’s indoor map service to locate facilities within the airport quickly. This service provides detailed floor-by-floor information about stores and amenities in large, complex spaces.
As part of its Lunar New Year initiatives, Kakao will install a “Giant Choonsik” statue featuring the popular Kakao Friends character Choonsik on the third floor of Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport until March 31. The statue doubles as a photo zone, and users can check its exact location through KakaoMap’s indoor map service.
To use the Airport Railroad Congestion Information and indoor map services, users must update their KakaoMap mobile app to the latest version (5.23.0 or later).
Cho Sung-yoon, leader of Kakao Local Map, stated, “We introduced these services to offer convenience to travelers preparing for trips during the Lunar New Year and other holidays. Moving forward, we plan to enhance KakaoMap so that users can easily access a wide range of information.”
