NAVER Corp. (CEO Soo Yeon Choi) has launched a “NAVER Map User Guide” page to help foreign tourists visiting Korea navigate their trips more efficiently using the NAVER Map app. The guide is available in English, Chinese, and Japanese.
As the only mapping service in Korea supporting four languages (Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese), NAVER Map has established itself as an essential app for international travelers. The app provides access to extensive local information, allowing users to explore places and plan routes conveniently. Foreign users can easily find venues that match their preferences, utilizing Korea’s largest location data repository enriched with multilingual visitor reviews in text, photos, and videos. Additionally, the app offers real-time public transportation updates, subway maps, boarding and alighting guides, and alternative travel options, ensuring smooth navigation to any destination.
The NAVER Map User Guide provides detailed, multilingual instructions on exploring popular destinations and using public transportation for navigation. To enhance accessibility, NAVER plans to distribute guide booklets at major tourist hubs frequented by international visitors, including Incheon Airport Tourist Information Centers, Airport Railroad Information Centers, and Myeongdong Welcome Centers.
Seung Rak Choi, head of NAVER Map Services, stated, “We aim to promote the usability of NAVER Map across various channels, ensuring foreign tourists can enjoy a seamless travel experience with just one app. As part of this effort, we plan to collaborate with overseas influencers to raise brand awareness and support more international users in leveraging NAVER Map from the early stages of their travel planning.”
Since 2018, NAVER Map has continuously improved its multilingual services to ensure that foreign users experience a functionality similar to that of Korean users. This year, NAVER expanded its multilingual support to include visitor reviews and place filters, enhancing the accuracy of translations for place pages and public transportation details. NAVER Map plans to upgrade its place-specialized large language model (LLM) to improve multilingual search accuracy and user convenience and strengthen its position as a must-have app for domestic travel. Additionally, the app will enable foreign users to conveniently book restaurants and events by next year, enhancing their travel experience in Korea.
