Naver Corp (CEO Soo Yeon Choi) and Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC, President Byungho Lee) have agreed to adopt various IT technologies to tackle climate change and regional decline in rural and fishing communities.
On December 16, the two organizations signed a business agreement at NAVER 1784 Building in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do. Bong-Seok Yoo, CEO of Policy & RM at Naver, and Byungho Lee, President of KRC, attended the ceremony, along with officials from both sides.
Under the agreement, they will collaborate on several initiatives, including introducing Naver’s AI-based caregiving service CLOVA CareCall to support vulnerable groups in rural areas, utilizing SmartPlace to promote rural experience villages and idle resources, and co-developing renewable energy projects to strengthen ESG management practices.
As a first step, the two organizations will pilot CLOVA CareCall, Naver’s AI-based caregiving service. The service will target 100 pension recipients from KRC’s Farmland Bank and vulnerable residents in the Chungbuk region. Naver will provide technology consulting to ensure effective implementation.
Additionally, rural experience spaces will be introduced through Naver SmartPlace, providing users with valuable information about rural communities and increasing engagement with these areas.
The partnership also aims to co-develop renewable energy projects such as agrivoltaics and explore long-term collaboration in advanced technologies, including AI and digital twins, to boost ESG management practices.
Bong-Seok Yoo, CEO of Policy & RM at Naver, stated, “We are committed to leveraging Naver’s innovative technologies and platform capabilities to revitalize rural and fishing communities. We will continue collaborating broadly with various partners to ensure Naver’s technology and platforms are used meaningfully and effectively.”
