Kakao Enterprise (CEO Kyung-Jin Lee) announced the official opening of the ‘Jeonbuk Kakao Cloud Digital Innovation Center’ on December 13. This initiative is part of Kakao Group’s integrated social contribution campaign, ‘Closer with Kakao,’ in collaboration with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. The center aims to develop the local digital ecosystem and nurture digital talent.
The opening ceremony, held at Jeonju University’s Star Center, was attended by Kakao Enterprise CEO Kyung-Jin Lee, Jeonbuk Governor Kwan-young Kim, Jeonbuk State Council Chairman Seungwoo Moon, Jeonju University President Jin-bae Park, and ATTO-Research CEO Jae Woong Chung.
The Jeonbuk Kakao Cloud Digital Innovation Center was established through a partnership between Kakao Enterprise, Jeonju University, and ATTO-Research. The facility, which spans approximately 1,600 square feet, includes classrooms, meeting rooms, and office spaces. In September, the partners signed an MOU to collaborate on building and operating the center.
The center fosters digital talent, supports youth startups, and creates job opportunities through educational programs centered on data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technologies, and digital transformation. The center will strengthen inter-company collaboration and expand the region’s IT ecosystem.
The center will provide aspiring entrepreneurs with project-based training programs and a structured startup support system. Beginning next year, it will host IT career strategy workshops and specialized cloud and AI training sessions for university students in Jeonbuk.
These programs will connect students with industry experts, offering hands-on experience and career development in digital technologies. The center aims to become a hub for digital industry growth in the region, driving positive economic and social impacts through innovative education and collaboration.
Jeonbuk Governor Kwan-young Kim stated, “The opening of this center marks a pivotal moment for Jeonbuk to become a digital innovation hub. We hope it will help young people realize their IT career dreams while enabling local businesses to find skilled talent.”
Kakao Enterprise CEO Kyung-Jin Lee added, “We will fully support Jeonbuk in becoming a model for AI-driven digital innovation powered by Kakao Cloud. We expect the center to play a key role in nurturing local talent and shaping a vibrant digital ecosystem.”
In September, Kakao Group launched its integrated social responsibility initiative, ‘Closer with Kakao,’ emphasizing its commitment to making life more convenient while fostering closer human connections through its technologies and services.
