Kakao Mobility (CEO Alex Geung-seon Ryu) announced on the 27th an update to its ‘Incheon Airport Preview’ feature on Kakao T, designed to assist travelers heading abroad during the year-end and New Year holidays.

Incheon Airport Preview, developed as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Digital Service Opening Initiative,’ leverages Incheon Airport’s big data platform to provide essential airport information in one integrated page. This includes airport and immigration congestion, parking details, transport options, and facility locations. Accessible via the ‘Incheon Airport’ icon under Kakao T’s ‘Travel’ tab, the service helps travelers efficiently plan their journey to and through the airport.

With the update, users who book international flights through Kakao T can automatically sync their flight details, accessing personalized information such as gate assignments and estimated travel times within the airport. Users can manually input flight numbers and travel dates in the ‘Register Flight Ticket’ section for flights booked on other platforms to receive the same detailed insights.

The “My Flight Information” feature displays critical travel details based on registered flight data. It shows check-in counters, terminals, boarding gates, departure times, and flight statuses for departures. It provides terminal details, baggage claim locations, and arrival times. Estimated travel times to the boarding gate are broken down into segments, such as parking areas, check-in counters, security checks, duty-free zones, and boarding gates. Users can set their starting point within the airport, such as parking lots or departure zones.

The preview service has received positive feedback for simplifying access to critical airport information. Congestion levels for terminals and immigration areas are categorized into four stages: ‘Smooth,’ ‘Slightly Congested,’ ‘Congested,’ and ‘Very Congested. ‘ Real-time updates are displayed via graphs and color codes for easy interpretation. Parking availability and fees for each terminal are also shown in real time.

For transit options, the service provides estimated times and costs for various modes of transportation, including taxis and private vehicles. It allows users to book services or navigate via Kakao Navi. Additional details include airport amenities’ location and operating hours, such as lounges, nursing rooms, dining options, and cafes, categorized by 24-hour availability, duty-free zones, and general areas. Users can also access overseas services like international ride-hailing and car rentals directly from Kakao T.

Alex Geung-seon Ryu, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, “We aim to provide essential airport and transit information to users traveling abroad with the Incheon Airport Preview service. We will continue enhancing the seamless travel experience through updates and collaborations with public and private organizations.”
