Neowiz (Co-CEOs Seungchul Kim and Tae-Gun Bae) announced the launch of a global open beta test for the Web3 game EOS Gold through its blockchain gaming platform Intella X. Developed by BluePotion Games, EOS Gold is the Web3 adaptation of the popular MMORPG EOS Red.
The beta test is part of the global publishing agreement signed between Neowiz and BluePotion Games in August 2022, which introduced EOS Red to the worldwide stage. As a precursor to onboarding EOS Gold on Intella X, the beta test has already generated significant buzz, attracting approximately 4.3 million participants during its pre-registration event. Participants received in-game coupons and test tokens known as tEGT (test EOS Gold Tokens).
EOS Gold offers large-scale PVP battles, dungeon exploration, character progression, and guild activities. The storyline follows the struggle of surviving “Arcanas” as they battle for territory across the Frigard Continent, a land left by the gods.
The beta test runs from November 25 to December 9 and can be accessed via the Google Play Store or by downloading the APK from the official website. Players can enjoy immersive battles typical of mobile MMORPGs by linking their mobile game accounts with web game accounts (wallet addresses) to experience Web3 content.
To celebrate the beta launch, Intella X has allocated $33,000 worth of USDC for rewards, distributed based on achievements such as siege victories and high combat power. Players can also win in-game items, including hero-grade and legendary weapons, pets, and rapid character growth perks. Additionally, collaborations with blockchain gaming guilds like Yield Guild Games have enabled events tailored for diverse blockchain guild communities.
Jose Sungjin Ko, CEO of Intella X, stated, “With Intella X’s expertise in Web 2.0 and Web3 gaming and Neowiz’s publishing experience, we are helping Web 2.0 developers transition effectively into the Web3 market. For EOS Gold, we aim to enhance its influence in the Web3 gaming sector through technical and marketing support.”
Meanwhile, EOS Red, developed by BluePotion Games, first launched in Korea in August 2019, followed by releases in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau in 2020. The game features large-scale sieges, territory wars, and guild raids. It reached over 1 million pre-registrations in Greater China and ranked second in revenue on the Google Play and Apple App Store.
