Smilegate has announced a global publishing contract through its indie platform STOVE Indie with CodenameBom (CEO Shin Won-Cheol) for the deck-building roguelite game Archetype Blue. The title has garnered significant attention at various indie game festivals.
Developed by CodenameBom, Archetype Blue features beautiful pixel art, strategic gameplay, and a philosophically rich storyline. The game, initially easy, intensifies in difficulty, appealing to players’ sense of challenge. Players join the journey of Mary, a girl who has lost her family, and the brave knight Lancelot as they embark on a perilous adventure.
First introduced to STOVE Indie at last year’s Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC), Archetype Blue has received acclaim from indie game enthusiasts at events including G-Star, Play Expo, Burning Beaver, Tokyo Game Show, and BitSummit. The game has won awards such as the G-Star Indie Awards’ “Player Voice,” BIC’s “One Pick Indie,” Gyeonggi Content Agency’s “NPR Nexeed Excellence Award,” KMGA’s “Indie Game of the Year,” and Indie Craft’s “SBA Director’s Award,” marking it as a rising star in the indie gaming scene.
Through this contract, Smilegate and CodenameBom have pledged close collaboration to support Archetype Blue’s successful global service. Leveraging its experience with popular global IPs, Smilegate plans to apply its expertise to the game’s development, aiming for early access in 2025 and a full release in 2026.
Paek Younghoon, Head of Smilegate Megaport, also in charge of directing the STOVE Indie platform, said, “Archetype Blue is a highly anticipated indie title showcasing the expertise of a seasoned development team. We are committed to supporting exceptional indie games and will do our best to bring Archetype Blue’s unique appeal to global indie fans using our accumulated publishing expertise.”
Shin Won-Cheol, CEO of CodenameBom, added, “We are thrilled to partner with STOVE Indie, which is dedicated to supporting indie game creators and expanding the indie ecosystem. With Smilegate’s global service expertise, we aim to deliver an outstanding gaming experience and are focused on completing the development of this passion project.”
