NCSOFT (Co-CEOs Taek-Jin Kim and Byungmoo Park) recently launched its AI model ‘Zero-shot Multi-verse TTS (Text to Speech).’ This technology can be applied throughout the game voice production process, enabling the creation of character voices with AI.
TTS is a voice synthesis technology that produces audio content from natural language input, such as character voices. NCSOFT’s ‘Multi-verse TTS’ uses a three-second voice prompt to generate diverse speaking styles, high-fidelity cross-linguistic voices, and multilingual speech.
The company plans to fully integrate the ‘Multi-verse TTS’ technology into its game voice production workflow. By leveraging this model, NCSOFT can produce high-quality AI character voices using limited voice resources, significantly reducing the time and cost typically required for traditional voice work.
One of the standout features of ‘Multi-verse TTS’ is its ability to operate as a single model. Unlike other TTS systems, which often require multiple models for different languages and functions, ‘Multi-verse TTS’ consolidates these capabilities, efficiently producing multilingual voice content at lower operational costs while maintaining high quality.
NCSOFT’s research paper on ‘Multi-verse TTS,’ which focuses on its ability to generate diverse language styles and voices within a single model, has been published in the prestigious AI academic conference ‘EMNLP (Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing),’ demonstrating its global technological capabilities.
NCSOFT is intensifying its AI research and development efforts to support the release of global games with multilingual voice AI. With ‘Multi-verse TTS,’ the company aims to produce over 100 game character voices by the end of the year and continue developing voice modulation features tailored to NPC characteristics and situations.
