Nexon (co-CEOs Dae-hyun Kang and Jung-wook Kim) announced on the 25th the launch of its integrated launcher service, Nexon Plug, in Japan.
Originally launched in 2005 as the industry’s first launcher program, Nexon Plug combines various convenient features, such as game installation and quick execution, with a game messenger previously offered through Nexon’s game portal.
Responding to the demand from international users, Nexon has expanded Nexon Plug into a global service, updating the platform to support Korean, English, and Japanese. The platform now includes PC and mobile games, with downloadable games linked via app market URLs and QR codes.
The user experience (UX) has also been revamped to allow users to check game features and the latest news easily. The platform now includes tabs for viewing announcements and related YouTube content and shortcut buttons for accessing other platforms like Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. A personalized banner based on individual gameplay history has been introduced, making the platform more user-friendly.
Furthermore, Nexon plans to continue updating Nexon Plug by expanding the application of Nexon Link, a feature that allows remote PC-mobile play, and adding more functionalities.
Junyoung Bae, Head of Nexon Intelligence Labs, stated, “With the overhaul of Nexon Plug and its expansion into Japan, we aim to create an environment where global gamers can enjoy games more conveniently and enjoyably. We plan to enrich Nexon Plug with more content based on user feedback.”
