On July 26th, the Ministry of Science and ICT (headed by Minister Lee Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Science and ICT) held the ‘2023 Digital Entrepreneurship Mentees and Mentors Matching Ceremony’ at the Startup Campus. The ceremony gathered mentees and mentors chosen for the second half of 2023’s mentoring program for businesses in the ICT domain.

The ICT mentoring initiative, overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT, is a project aimed at assisting prospective and nascent entrepreneurs in the ICT sector to navigate technological and managerial challenges, and find solutions leveraging the experience of seasoned entrepreneurs.

Approximately 200 individuals attended the event, comprising 150 mentees selected for the latter half of 2023’s program (90 early-stage start-ups, 60 prospective start-ups), 40 mentors, representatives from the Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation, and the K-ICT Startup Mentoring Center.

Throughout the ceremony, exhibition booths showcased digital companies that had flourished with the aid of mentors. Companies participating in the exhibition included: ‘Olive Union,’ a smart hearing aid developer; ‘Amicus Lex,’ a legal document generation platform; ‘Link Flow,’ a 360-degree wearable camera developer; ‘Dtonic,’ a spatial-temporal big data analysis solution company; and ‘ST Young One,’ a secondary battery separator design company.

Jeon Young-soo, Director General of Information and Communication Industry Policy at the Ministry, remarked, “Innovative technology and creative ideas are crucial for a successful start-up in the digital age, but acquiring valuable know-how from seasoned entrepreneurs and experts is equally important.” He added, “We aim to expand and actively support the digital entrepreneurship mentoring system tailored to each business stage, promoting entrepreneurship in the digital sector and encouraging young entrepreneurs to grow with a spirit of challenge and passion.”

Ever since the unveiling of the ‘Korea Digital Strategy’ in September 2022, the Ministry of Science and ICT has been fostering opportunities for young digital field enthusiasts to rise to the challenge, while extending customized mentoring programs to nurture digital startups.
