The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Park Bo-gyun) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), spearheaded by President Jo Hyun-rae, organized the ‘2023 Global Game Hub Center Open House’ on July 25. This event, held at the Gyeonggi Province Pangyo Global Game Hub Center, aimed to discover and enhance the capabilities of stellar small and medium-sized domestic game developers.

The event’s first segment, a ‘Demo Day,’ showcased the accomplishments of resident companies at the Global Game Hub Center to potential investors and publishers. The session featured four companies from the ‘Game Venture 4.0’ group, comprising promising startups and enterprises under five years old, including ENSTAQUBE, Ulideol, Capers, and Hypermoney Games. Additionally, the ‘Resident Companies,’ made up of small and medium-sized game businesses, presented the work of five firms – Shine Games, Softon Entertainment, Springsoft, Arum Games, and Tripearl Games.

To maximize the effectiveness of the Demo Day, KOCCA invited 13 external entities, encompassing investors and publishers, to enable real investment opportunities. KOCCA also invited the Content Value Assessment Investment Consultation Committee, responsible for content venture capital evaluation, to attend as a reviewing body.

The second segment of the event was a ‘Networking Session,’ aiming to foster business connections between Global Game Hub Center residents and significant gaming industry stakeholders. Around 100 gaming industry professionals, including center residents, investors, publishers, game developers, and game-related service providers, joined the event to explore potential collaboration prospects.

Following the networking segment, KOCCA’s Game Development Team discussed the current status and key achievements of the Global Game Hub Center. Furthermore, Choi Yeon-jae, CEO of the ‘BILLIONAIRE GAMES,’ a distinguished graduate of the Global Game Hub Center in 2022, and Kang Byeong-jong, CEO of the selected excellent resident company ‘Arum Games,’ shared their company’s growth stories as speakers. The “Graduation Presentation and Exhibition” for the 3rd batch of game talent trainees was also held on the same day at the Game Talent Campus of the Pangyo LH Enterprise Growth Center.

Kim Sung-joon, the Head of Game Division at KOCCA, emphasized, “KOCCA continues to provide comprehensive support, from nurturing specialized professionals to fostering businesses, for the development of the domestic game industry’s ecosystem. Our plan is to continue bolstering the cultivation of practical core talents in the game industry through the Game Talent Campus and to provide steady growth support to domestic small and medium-sized game companies centered around the Global Game Hub Center.”

The Global Game Hub Center, located on the 8th and 9th floors of the Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley LH Enterprise Growth Center in Gyeonggi Province, is a facility specifically designed to support domestic representative game companies in unique game genres, helping them grow into robust game development companies with significant growth potential in their early stages.
