On the second day of their visit to South Korea, on July 18, the “Thailand Joint Public-Private Economic Delegation” visited South Korea’s Pangyo Techno Valley Startup Campus. The visit was part of their tour under the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) industrial training program.

The delegation, led by Nattapol Rangsitpo, the Permanent Deputy Minister of the Thai Ministry of Industry, aimed to foster bilateral technological cooperation. This was achieved through benchmarking with Korean startups located in Pangyo Techno Valley, recognized as a leading Korean venture hub.

Upon their arrival, the delegation received a comprehensive introduction and tour of Pangyo Techno Valley at the startup campus. Nattapol Rangsitpo and his economic delegation then proceeded to explore the startup incubation space. This included the “Digital Open Lab,” a facility provided by GBSA. The lab boasts amenities such as 3D printers and test beds, designed to aid the growth and development of emerging unicorn companies.

Through this visit, the delegation sought to gather insights from Korea’s vibrant startup ecosystem and bring back valuable lessons to spur Thailand’s own technological advancement.

While sharing his thoughts, Nattapol Rangsitpo asserted that Pangyo Techno Valley bears a striking resemblance to the Silicon Valley of Asia, instrumental in fostering the growth and nurturing of burgeoning startups. He conveyed his hope that this visit would spark improved collaboration between Pangyo Techno Valley and the Korean government. This partnership would establish a more substantial and mutually beneficial relationship between Thailand and South Korea.

The Thailand Joint Public-Private Economic Delegation had insightful conversations with Jeong Dae-jin, the Deputy Assistant for Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, on July 17. Together, they explored potential avenues to broaden economic cooperation in emerging industries, encompassing areas like electric vehicles, digital transformation, and industrial policy.
